Questions you might have
Is this an official app?
No. PathToUS is an independent practice tool and is not affiliated with USCIS or the U.S. government. Questions and rules follow what uscis.gov publishes.
Should I study the 2025 or the 2008 civics test?
If you filed your N-400 on or after October 20, 2025, you take the 2025 test (128 questions; up to 20 asked, 12 correct to pass). If you filed earlier, you take the 2008 test (100 questions; up to 10 asked, 6 correct to pass). The app picks the version from your filing date.
Can I take the test in Chinese?
If at filing you were 50 or older with 20 years as a permanent resident (50/20), or 55 or older with 15 years (55/15), you are exempt from the English test and may take civics in your language with an interpreter. If you were 65 or older with 20 years (65/20), you only study 20 designated questions on the 2025 test. The app checks this from your dates.
Is my information safe?
No sign-up. Your profile and N-400 stay on your phone. During practice only the current answer and the few related facts are sent to the AI for grading, and they are not stored.
How much does it cost?
Civics, reading and writing, and N-400 entry are free forever, and you can try one mock interview for free. The Interview Pass is $9.99 for 100 mock interviews within 6 months of purchase and never renews.
